Warren Buffett One of the World’s most successful Investors recently became a 50% owner of Berkadia Commercial Real Estate ( formerly known as Capmark), the third-largest servicer of Commercial Mortgages.
Sam Zell, the famous developer is on a Manhattan apartment-building buying binge. Just days after one of his companies, Equity Residential scooped up three apartment buildings from developer Harry Macklowe it announced plans to construct 111 apartments sand around 10,000 square feet of retail space at the southwest corner of 10th Avenue and 23rd Street in the heart of Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
It is a given that Warren Buffett and Sam Zell bought their deals at a major discount…but that they are buying Real Estate which is a lightning rod for bad news….is a big plus for the Real Estate Industry. When you purchase Real Estate ..you are showing your faith in its value..and its future appreciation.
Warren Buffett and Sam Zell have capital resources that we don’t have…but how did they get those capital resources ? Over decades they saw jewels…where others saw only defects…..that’s how.

Zell recently raised $625 million to invest in “credit opportunities…” perhaps he’ll buy some more newspapers….
